Born in 21st January 1956 in Dhaka, Mr. Kutubuddin Ahmedgraduated in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He setup his own business organization “The ENVOY GROUP” in 1984. Starting with a single Garment manufacturing unit, today this group has emerged as one of the largest and thriving business conglomerates in Bangladesh. ENVOY GROUP now consists of Garments, Textile, Freight Forwarding, Information Technology and Computer Systems operations. Mr. Ahmed is a self-motivated person with strong principles. Under his dynamic leadership and farsightedness, ENVOY GROUP received national trophies in business sector for 3 times. In 1988-1989, for the first time ENVOY GROUP was awarded the “PRESIDENT’S EXPORT TROPHY”, then in year 1990-91 & 1991-92 Envoy was awarded the “NATIONAL EXPORT TROPHY”. His decisive leadership and proactive skills drove him towards successfully completed the tenure as President in Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA). Mr. Ahmed has been awarded “National Sports Award 2002” -the highest recognition for contribution as a sports organizer in Bangladesh. He was recognized as the Preeminent Personality in the Apparel Sector and received the prestigious “ Arthakantha Business Award-2002 ” by a national financial fortnightly of Bangladesh. For contribution to the Rotary Foundation, he was made Paul Harris Fellow 2004. Mr. Ahmed has been awarded with the 2006 International Olympic Committee (IOC) Trophy “ Sports and the Community ”. Awarded Best Sports Organizer for the Year 2006 by Bangladesh Sports Writers’ Association. Received a Diploma from the International Olympic Committee for remarkable success as a volunteer to the development of Sports and Olympian and to the promotion of friendship and solidarity among people. Award received from International Islamic University Chittagong in recognition of outstanding corporate achievement at 2008.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE Attended as a discussant in the Wilton Park Conference on “SOUTH ASIA: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REGIONAL ECONOMIC CO OPERATION?” held on 11 - 13 October 2004 in London organized by Wilton Park in cooperation with the South Asian Centre for Policy Studies. Presented a paper at a WORKSHOP on “COM BATING CHILD LABOUR: THE ROLE OF EMPLOYERS” in Turin, Italy held on 26-28 May, 2003, organized by ILO.Attend as a discussant in the ILO/JAP AN/US ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL SEMINAR on the “APPLICATION OF THE ILO DECL ARATION ON FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES AND RIGHTS AT WORK AND ITS FOLLOW-UP” held on 19-21 February, 2003, at Jakarta, Indonesia, organized by ILO. Presented a paper at a Plenary Session on “ASIA GLOBAL SOURCING EXHIBITION AND CONFERENCE, 2001” at Jakarta Convention Centre, Indonesia held on 25-27 October, 2001, organized by RANTAI EXPO INTERNATIONAL PTE.Attended as a discussant in the “MARKETPLAC E TEXTILICA” a seminar held on 12-18May, 2001, at Boras, Sweden, organized by SWEDISH FEDERATION OF TRADE.COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES As a mark of deep respect to his father Late Md. Saadat Ali , Mr. Ahmed formed the “ Saadat Smriti Sadan”, which concentrates in serving the poor & unfortunates of the society. He established two Charitable Clinics, one at 555 Nayatola, Baro Moghbazar, Dhaka and the other one at Narshingdi, Dhaka which provide free medical treatment to the poor and distressed people. He built a Mosque at Nabi Nagar Thana, Comilla. Mr. Ahmed also established a Technical Institute with computer accessories and sewing machinery tools in Narshindi for providing technical training. He fostered the advancement of the conference room of the Business Faculty of Dhaka University. Mr. Ahmed is working as an Advisor to the Campaign against Drug being run by the leading daily “Prothom Alo”. He is contributing as a Member of the Advisory Council of ‘ Kendriya Kochi Kacher Mela’ , the largest, oldest and most popular organization in the country for children. The 49-year old organization has around 80,000 members through out the country. Mr. Ahmed sponsors the “Saadat Memorial Badminton Tournament” on every year.
