ICC Workshop on Documentary Trade Finance - Technical, Legal & Technology!
Chattogram: Saturday, 8 December 2018
Deadline for Nominations: Monday, 3 December 2018
ICC Bangladesh will organize a day-long Workshop on Documentary Trade Finance - Technical, Legal & Technology at The Peninsula Chittagong Hotel, Chattogram on Saturday, 8 December 2018.
The role of trade finance in supporting exports and imports has increased dramatically in recent times. With the transition of hard dialogue on trade protectionism evolving into direct trade friction the likelihood of trade finance disputes is increasing. Countries which were until recently seen as the perfect markets for trade finance from international providers are now seeing credit lines drying up with liquidity tightening.
Bearing in mind this backdrop to global trends in trade finance this workshop is designed to bring recent international cases and judgements to participants in an interactive manner. The workshop will also explore advances in technology including examples of the application of Blockchain in Islamic Trade Finance and how advanced financial technology can enhance trade processing, increase trade volumes and in turn free up credit lines to enhance liquidity for trade finance activities.
The workshop will be of significant benefits to Bangladesh Bank officials dealing with foreign trade, officials of commercial banks, exporters, importers, investment project managers, corporate lawyers, SME entrepreneurs, freight forwarders and other international trade professionals to understand and take guard against the risks involved and how to resolve issues.
Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) and Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees (CSDG) participants will get 8 (eight) Professional Development Unit (PDUs) for re-certification.
We are pleased to announce that the Workshop will be conducted by Mr. Vincent O'Brien who is an Executive Committee Member of the ICC Banking Commission and Vice Chair of the Banking Commission of ICC United Arab Emirates. He has delivered trade finance technical assistance and training in more than 100 countries worldwide. Mr. O’Brien has participated in dispute resolution exercises and has acted as an expert witness in major trade related legal disputes, international trade conferences and events.
