International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) – Bangladesh, The world business organization, will hold a day-long ICC Workshop on Factoring & Open Account for International Trade Finance at The Westin Dhaka Hotel on Sunday, 19 February 2023. The Workshop will be organized jointly by ICC Bangladesh, Factors Chain International (FCI), The Netherlands and Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).
At present, a number of exporters from Bangladesh are selling goods on contract without LCs at 90 to 120 days usance/credit term. Due to worldwide close down during COVID-19, Bangladesh Bank, to facilitate export, brought radical changes in foreign trade transactions through issuance of FE Circular No. 25 dated June 30, 2020
Open account and International factoring is being adopted by most of the countries around the world for better and smooth trade finance. The aim of the Workshop is to allow the officials from government agencies, regulatory authorities, Bangladesh Bank, commercial banks, and entrepreneurs to learn more about open account and factoring in general and international factoring in particular, its benefits and growth potential.
Certified Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS), Certified Specialist in Demand Guarantees (CSDG) and Certificate in Supply Chain Finance (CSCF) participants will receive 7 (seven) Professional Development Unit (PDUs) for re-certification by attending this workshop.
We have invited FCI Marketing Committee Chairman Ms. Sarah C.H. Pon; FCI Education Director Ms. Aysen Cetintas; FCI Secretary General Mr. Peter Mulroy; Dr. Prashanta Kumar Banerjee, Professor, BIBM and Mr. Thompson Lui, FCI Regional Manager of South and South East Asia to take various sessions during the Workshop.
We also plan to arrange a Panel Discussion on Operation of Open Account and International Factoring for foreign trade of Bangladesh to be moderated by Mr. Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali, Former Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor & Chairman, ICC Bangladesh Banking Commission. We are expecting Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Mr. Ahmed Jamal to be the Keynote Speaker at the Panel discussion and distribute certificates as Chief Guest.
