Bangladesh economy in 2009 has performed remarkably well despite the global recession and maintained a steady growth. Despite perceived uncertainties during the year (2009) the country achieved 5.9% growth in FY 09 and expecting 6% growth in the FY10. With adequate power and energy supply and appropriate infrastructure the country could have achieved higher GDP said ICCB President Mahbubur Rahman while presenting the Executive Board Report at its 15th Council.

The Bangladesh economy has been growing at about six percent annually over the last few years. Overcoming all hurdles, the growth of the manufacturing sector even reached the double digit. ………

Although the world’s economy averted the worst, the current recovery is fragile and it will take some time for the global economy to return to robust growth, ICC Chairman Victor K. Fung told an energy conference today.

The introduction of ATA Carnet System in Bangladesh will have a positive impact on the country’s foreign trade by ensuring that the local exporting firms are able to compete with those of other trading nations under equal terms on the world market.

We know that the expansion of world trade has led to a considerable growth of temporary exports and imports of all kinds of goods that play an important role in international trade. For that reason industrialists and traders need to display their products at trade fairs, exhibitions or similar events in other countries, because these events can offer them a valuable means for marketing their products abroad, said ICCB President Mahbubur Rahman while inaugurating the two-day workshop on ATA Carnet System: Passport to Global Trade at the DCCI auditorium on December 21.
