The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) submitted on January, 27 eightpoint proposal to the Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed to help activate the countrys economic activities. Among the proposals, the chamber urged the Chief Adviser for taking quick decision on pending foreigninvestment proposals, bringing discipline in the power sector and making the AntiCorruption Commission (ACC) independent and powerful.
Other proposals include privatisation of the underconstruction New Mooring Container Terminal and adoption of a policy to run the Chittagong seaport under a privatepublic partnership, and handing over the operational responsibilities of the Chittagong Shah Amanat Airport to the private sector.
The chamber also proposed for immediate formation of counter intelligence unit in the police department, taking steps to bring corrupt persons and government officials to justice, and strengthening all the service organisations at Chittagong for promoting business activities.
