Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has sent a 66-member high-powered business delegation to the 15th China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair 2007, scheduled to be held during June 6-10 at China’s Kunming. DCCI President Hossain Khaled heads the delegation. The main objective of the fair is to increase export of Bangladeshi commodities to Chinese market, and strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
DCCI is the co-organiser of the Kunming Fair 2007. DCCI believes that by participating in the fair it will be possible to exploit the opportunities to reduce the trade imbalances with China. The fair organisers have provided 25 stalls for showcasing the products of DCCI. Seventeen exhibitors, comprising of exporters, importers, manufacturers and traders, will participate in the fair to exhibit various commodities like ceramics, tableware, garments items, handicrafts, jute goods, leather goods, agro-products, plastic goods, jamdani sharee, taat sharee, herbal foods, cosmetics, toiletries, furniture, IT products, light engineering products, electronics items, consumer products etc.
The DCCI delegation will also meet various trade organisations like China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Yunnan Provincial Chamber of Commerce (YPCC), and other important chambers of China. The delegation will also meet deputy director general of Department of Commerce of Yunnan province, Vice-Governor of the People’s Government of Yunnan, and other business personalities. As the private sector representative of Bangladesh, DCCI has been maintaining a very close relation with the private sector counterparts in China.
Earlier, DCCI signed MoU with CCPIT and YPCC to develop the economic, trade and investment relations, and to establish a favourable atmosphere for interaction between the business enterprises of Bangladesh and China.
